The Lafayette Parish Group was the original support group of Autism Society Acadiana, which was formerly known as the Acadian Society for Autistic Citizens (ASAC). Autism Society Acadiana was founded in 1985 by a group of parents and professionals committed to sharing information and supporting each other; this small network grew to include many other families, professionals and supporters. During the early years, ASAC, as we were then known, served seven parishes of Acadiana. Since then, the Lafayette support group has been replicated in local parishes focusing on meeting the needs unique to each area. We welcome any and all who would like to attend our meetings. At our monthly meetings, we regularly have participants from UL, professors and students, educators, and other professionals from our community. We welcome all who are willing to learn and contribute to a better understanding of autism. The Lafayette Parish Support Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month. Our facilitator is Jessica Theall, who may be reached at thejessall76@yahoo.com. Please see our calendar for details.
